The Elms in Newport, RI was the summer home of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Julius Berwind. Begun in 1898, the house was modeled after the stunning 18th century French chateau d’Asnieres, Paris. The house was designed Classical Revival style and featured lavish grounds and gardens, This included The Elms dining room terraces, a park and an extensive lower garden featuring stunning fountains, marble pavilions and sunken garden. Recently The Elms gardens have been restored.
