Spirea Bush Varieties
Spiraea vanhouttei 'Bridal Wreath' 5' - 9'. A deciduous shrub with wonderful flowers and attractive autumn color. 'Bridal Wreath' is an upright shrub with sweeping branches which gracefully arch for an elegant landscape display. In spring, a delicate showing of clustered, white blossoms appear, giving a cascading appearance and an old fashioned touch in the garden. The attraction to butterflies and bees adds to your Bridalwreath’s glorious display. Use 'Bridal Wreath' as an informal hedge or in shrub planting single specimen.
Spiraea thunbergii 'Fujino Pink' 2' - 5'. An old fashioned looking, delicate garden shrub with apple blossom, light pink flowers along wispy branches. Flowers are small and wreath like. 'Fujino Pink' is lovely in flower during spring and in summer bears light yellow green foliage on the slender branches. 'Fujino Pink' has a gracefully arching, multi-stemmed form. Remove older non-flowering canes to encourage new growth.
Spiraea x bumalda 'Gold Flame' 3' - 4'. A versatile landscape shrub that adds color, early foliage emerges a bright red which fades to yellow during summer. In fall it changes to a deep red to brilliant coppery-orange. Also in early summertime showy flat-topped clusters of pink flowers emerge. 'Gold Flame' forms a tidy, dense ball with an upright, mounded shape. Good heat tolerance. 'Gold Flame' is a great choice as an accent o to highlight an area of the yard.
Spiraea japonica 'Goldmound' 2' - 3'. Deciduous dwarf shrub, grow in full sun. Clusters of light pink flowers on dramatic foliage. Leaves are a bright yellow gold in spring, yellowish green in fall and finally a yellow orange during autumn. With its dwarf size, 'Goldmound' is a best pick for a small space garden. It will add color to a perennial garden or border all summer and can contrast beautifully with darker leaf shrubs. When used as an accent plant, 'Goldmound' will add brightness to the landscape.
Spiraea japonica 'Little Princess' 3'. Dainty clusters of rose pink flowers create a bright spot in the garden, contrasting with mint green leaves. 'Little Princess' has a compact, neat compact rounded form which fits well in perennial gardens and shrub borders. 'Little Princess' is drought tolerant and suitable for drier areas.

'Neon Flash' forms a tidy mound of rich green which turn to a pleasing dark burgundy in fall. Use 'Neon Flash' for a colorful, low growing informal hedge or in a mass planting.
Spiraea nipponica 'Snowmound' 3'- 5'. Easy to grow in southern gardens, 'Snowmound' is a compact shrub with graceful, arching branches. It is a great pick for romantic or cottage gardens with its delicate, old fashioned look. In mid to late spring spectacular clusters of white flowers completely cover the limbs, giving the appearance of a mound of snow. Use 'Snowmound' in a border or accent. Use cut flowers for beautiful arrangements.
