Beginning
the weekend before Thanksgiving the
Kinsey Family Farm
opens the gates for what we feel is one of the finest times of the
year! The winter season, and the holiday traditions and joy that
accompany it, were the driving force behind the redevelopment of the
farm.
We invite you to come roast marshmallows, drink hot cider, and listen to holiday music with us at the barn. Once you have warmed your insides sufficiently you can take a wagon ride out to the fields to begin your quest for the perfect Christmas tree.
During the 2007
season we will have over 2,500 Christmas trees available for choose and
cut! With a multitude of varieties to choose from it is going to
require
some firm family decision making to find the right tree. The 2007
choose and cut varieties include the extremely popular Leyland Cypress,
as well as Carolina Sapphire, Naylor's Blue, Red Cedar, and Silver
Dust. In addition to our field grown trees, we will have fresh cut North Carolina grown Fraser and Concolor Firs available at the barn. Our largest selection ranges in size from 5 to 11 feet with a limited number of trees up to 16 feet. Because we strive to provide only the highest quality Christmas trees all of our Fraser Firs are graded as "Top Quality" (the finest trees as graded by the USDA). And please rest assured that these Frasers really are second to none! All of our cut trees available in the barn will be ON DISPLAY IN WATER in an effort to offer you a particularly healthy tree. We will also be providing wreaths, garlands, bows, and tree stands. UPDATES: 10 December 2007 - We will most likely be receiving our final shipment of Fraser Firs tomorrow. They were cut today and if all goes according to plans will be unloaded and displayed on the barn floor Tuesday afternoon. We also have one 13 foot Fraser that desperately needs a home . . . interested parties should definitely not bring a compact car! 9 December 2007 - The Concolor Firs were highly coveted and in the span of a few days they all found families with whom they could celebrate the holidays. I assure you we will have a significantly larger supply next year as I, and evidently many others, have taken a liking to their citrus aroma! 4 December 2007 - It's going to happen! I have gotten my hands on Concolor Firs!!! The Concolor Firs, along with a new shipment of Fraser Firs, are scheduled to arrive on the 6th of December! Any individuals interested in purchasing a deeply discounted tree for the TREES FOR TROOPS program please see the cashiers in the barn. The farm donates 20 trees to this program each year. Our goal this year is to match our amount with trees donated by the public (after our first weekend we are already up to 9 additional trees!) The final date for purchasing a tree for a military family is the 9th of December! We are also pleased to announce that in response to the overwhelming enthusiasm for the "Kinsey Family Farm" pewter ornament we provided with each tree purchase during the last two Christmas seasons, we have decided to make this gift to you an annual tradition. We look forward to showing you the new ornament design this Christmas season! Sorry no sneak peeks . . . Christmas is after all a time for surprises! The Kinsey Family Farm 2005 Ornament
